*Additional information: Bird lists, especially taxonomy, can
be quite controversial. We offer a mixture of authorities' positions
and strive to be as accurate as possible. As bird taxonomy is in
constant flux due to trends in genetic testing, this list may become out of date quickly with respect
to Family and Genus. Hawaii-based birds are included even
though Hawaii doesn't belong geologically to the North American
Continent. It's inclusion is based on its geo-political
classification as a US State. Extinct birds are included in
the event preserved specimens are photographed. It is the goal of
this list that you be able to reasonably accurately tag your North
American Bird Photos.
